The community of Masjid Al-Quran was founded in the 1930s in Bostons South End. It started its life as an NOI Temple and entered the fold of orthodox Islam in the 1970s with Imam W.D. Muhammad. Masjid Al-Quran is affiliated with the American Society of Muslims, an Islamic community in association with the leadership of Imam W. D. Mohammed, which proclaims in word and deeds the universal message of Al-Islam that there is but One G-d and one human family. With its distinctive green awning, the red brick building easily accommodates the 150-200 men and women who gather for prayer every Friday at 1:00 P.M. In addition to Friday community prayers, Masjid Al-Quran has an extensive array of educational and social activities including Islamic education classes.

Friday prayers at 1:00 pm. Nightly Isha prayers with iqamah within 10 mins after arrival of time. The Islamic Center of Boston (ICB) was established in 1979 (1399 AH) as a nonprofit, nonsectarian religious, educational and cultural organization. Services provided by the ICB include congregational prayers, Ramadan iftaars and taraveeh, a Sunday school, eid programs, educational lectures, and interfaith activities. The center services the Muslim community west and north of Boston although people travel to get to this center from as far away as New Hampshire and Falmouth. Centers membership includes many ethnic groups and represents Muslims from all over the world. In its workings it has been organized as a democratic association of equals; it does not entertain distinctions based on race, color, ethnicity, sectarian affinities, countries of origin and financial standing of its members.
