The Al-Quds Mosque Hamburg - also known as Masjid Taiba - is an Arab-dominated mosque in the suburb of St. George in the vicinity the main railway station. The mosque was opened in 1993. The Friday sermon is only in Arabic and was temporarily translated after Friday prayers in German. The ground floor of the premises includes a hall with staircase, the prayer rooms for men and women, and the office located on the 1st floor. Washrooms and toilets for men are found in the basement, on the 2nd floor sits a restaurant, a small grocery store with an adjoining library and Internet caf and a hairdresser. The mosque is currently looking for (as at August 2009) for a new space and to this end had started a major but ultimately unsuccessful but fundraising.
