Founded in 1978, the Islamic Center at NYU caters to a wide audience, with its community education initiatives, employment advice assistance forums, graduate student organizations, lectures by prominent American and international scholars, mens and womens intramural sports teams, noted weekend camps and retreats, social gatherings, themed events and programs, daily and weekly Friday prayer services and the like. The Prayer Room is Located at 238 Thompson Street, NY NY 10012 on the 4th Floor of NYUs Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life. The previous location of the Islamic Center facility was located in the basement level of St. Josephs Church, which is located at 371 Sixth Avenue (corner of 6th Avenue and Washington Place).
