Shalimar (I)
Reviews: 0
Deep in the heart of San Franciscos Tenderloin district, you can find dozens of Halal restaurants within a few blocks radius. Each one of these looks to Shalimar as the one that started it all. Its the reason they refer to this area as the "Tandoor-loin". But despite the proliferation of higher-quality restaurants and their varied styles (everything from Thai to Brazilian and everything in between, this institution keeps packing them in. Its still the favorite of Muslim cabbies everywhere, and intrepid lunchers from Market Street drag their work colleagues here to see how much heat they can stand. Fresh tandoori chicken & naan is doled out by the bagful (most people carry out rather than find a seat in this crowded place), and despite the volume the food still carries high marks.

Sunrise Deli
Reviews: 0
In 1984, Sunrise Deli opened on Irving Street in the Sunset District of San Francisco introducing the delicious Middle Eastern cuisine to the Bay Area. Almost three decades later, Sunrise Deli continues to provide high quality Middle Eastern food to the Bay Area. Winning numerous awards along the way, Sunrise Deli has proved to be one of the best Middle Eastern cuisine options the Bay Area has to offer. This San Francisco family owned and operated business uses meat from local ranches and the vegetables are handpicked from local farms. None of their products are frozen or pre-packaged. They also have a large baking operation at the Irving Street location where they bake their famous round sesame bread daily along with spinach pies, Armenian pizzas, and Thyme pizzas. They also bake a variety of sweets that are available daily. Monday-Friday 10 am - 4:30 pm
