I.M.A.M. is the liaison office of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in North America. We are a religious organization and the central point of communication between the Shia Muslims in North America and their spiritual religious leadership (Marja’iyyah) in all matters pertaining to beliefs and religious duties. At the same time, we aim to organize Shia Muslims in North America as a vibrant, communicating, and collaborative community to practice its faith. We impart the teachings of Allah brought to us through the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet and his infallible household while adhering to the laws of the land.

American Muslim Center
Reviews: 0
The American Muslim center of Dearborn was established and registered in 2002 and is led by Imam Mohammad Mardini. It is made up of a core of Lebanese Muslim families, many of them second and third generation Americans. Muslims of other nationalities, especially South Asians, also pray at the AMC, largely because it is a short distance from several Ford Motor Company facilities where many immigrant Muslims are employed. The building was formerly a Protestant church. The pews have been removed, and the sanctuary is now an open prayer space. Imam Mardini preaches from what was once the rear of the church; the elevated front of the sanctuary, once site of the pulpit and communion table, is now a space reserved for women. An area for washing before prayers has been installed downstairs, where a social hall and classrooms are also being built. The renovation and adornment of the AMC have produced a beautiful interior that reflects, in its design, a heightened awareness of the mosques location in America.

Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center
Reviews: 0
The Center was established in 1994 in a rented building that used to be a former nightclub, built in the 1950s. Karbalaa is continually remodeled, with rooms changing functions from mosque to assembly hall. In its current state, the larger room is the main mosque with a smaller mosque attached for women and children. Occasionally the larger mosque is turned into secular space with tables and chairs to host members of the congregation, guests, local politicians and media for press conferences on Iraq. The floor of the mosque is decorated with colorful prayer rugs, and the wall with photos of Iraqi martyrs Mohammad Baqir as-Sadr and Baqir al-Hakim, murdered by Saddam Hussein. Karbalaa is the center of Dearborns Iraqi Shia community, with about 5000 members. There are approximately 15,000 Iraqi Shia refugees living in the greater Detroit area, who fled Iraq due to their opposition to Saddam Hussein.

Islamic Cultural Association
Reviews: 0
The Islamic Cultural Association was founded by a group of families who hoped to establish an Islamic community that modeled their beliefs and values. In 1987, the community purchased the Franklin Building and moved to its present location. Two years later, it established the prestigious Huda School which has flourished over the years, alhamdulilah. The ICA created a weekend Arabic School, Dar-al Huda. The ICA has continued to grow and expand, offering its members an Islamic environment where they can feel at home and raise their children with hearts at ease. Since its inception, the ICA has held various school and family functions for the occasions that matter most to its members—such as Ramadan and Eid—as well as exciting activities for the whole family.
