Masjid-e-Quba (North London Mosque Trust)
Отзывов: 0
North London Mosque Trust (NLMT) also known as Masjid-e-Quba is situated in the northern part of the London Borough of Hackney in an area called Stamford Hill. It has been catering for the needs (prayers, tarbiyyah, madrassah, weddings and funeral services) of the local muslims in Stamford Hill and its surrounding areas since 1970 when it was located on Forburg Road. The local muslims in the area are mainly from Gujarat, India who first came to the area as early as the 1950s. The area now has many musIims from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Somalia, Turkey and various Arab countries. To further provide for the needs of the community, a Muslim girls school, Muslim boys School, Muslim community/youth centre and a Muslim Housing Association have been established in nearby buildings. Over the past years the masjid has also strengthened its relationship with those from other faith communities such as the local Hassidic Jewish community and local churches. The masjid is also involved with local authorities and has held diversity training for local police officers.

North London Central Mosque

Founded in 1990 and one of Londons largest mosques, this building (formerly known as and sometimes still referred to as the Finsbury Park Mosque) was made (in)famous by its provocative hook-handed imam, Sheikh Abu Hamza Al-Masri. After slowly forming a base for the extremist group Al-Muhajiroun in the 1990s and inspiring the likes of shoe-bomber Richard Reid and 20th hijacker Zacarias Moussaoui, the mosque saw a plunge in attendance at juma prayers to 150-200 when more moderate Muslims became alienated. The mosque was soon raided by authorities on suspicion of terror activities and closed in January 2003 by the Charities Commission, after which Sheikh Abu Hamza continued Friday prayers on the sidewalk outside. Abu Hamza was eventually expelled from the mosque and arrested in early 2004 on terror charges (He is awaiting extradition to the US). The mosque was reopened in August 2004 and after a final struggle by hardline trustee members, management was transferred to the mainstream Muslim Association of Britain in February 2005. Says the association, MAB hopes that the bad publicity the mosque had attracted in the past will now be history and that a new chapter will be opened whereby this shrine, which happens to be one of Londons largest mosques - with room for up to 2,100 men and women, will attract Muslims and non-Muslims alike to learn the sublime values of Islam that derive from the oneness of our Creator and the oneness of the origin of our humanity.

Islamic Cultural Centre of Finchley
Отзывов: 0
Islamic Association of North London (IANL) was registered as a charity in 1977, although its activities, particularly those around faith, began long before its formal registration and the development of its current centre near Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley. Barnet is a vibrant community with a Muslim population of 20,000 which is around 6% of the all the religious groups in Barnet (Christians and Jews are 150,000 and 47,000 respectively). These three faith groups represent circa 70% of all the religious groups in the London Borough of Barnet. The remaining 30% comprises other religions. The vast majority of the Muslims are from over 65 different countries from Asia (including the Middle-East), Africa, Europe and South America. This makes the congregation in Finchley Mosque very diverse and unique compared to other Islamic and other faith institutions within the UK.
