In the mid-1980's, property at 22 Brookfield Road in Mount Vernon was purchased and named the Westchester Muslim Center. Currently, WMC serves more than 2000 Muslim families and operates a weekend school with an enrollment of 300 students. In 1999, the Islamic Education Foundation started a full time school on the ground which has an enrollment of 130 students to date.
